Why Zebra?

The term "zebra" is medical slang for a surprising diagnosis.  The term derives from the aphorism "When you hear hoofbeats behind you, don't expect to see a zebra."  Since horses are the more common animal and zebras are very rare, logically and statistically speaking - horses are the more logical guess than zebras.
